Lavandula angustifolia
This compact bushy lavender has the same fragrant foliage, purple flowers and citrus flavor of standard English Lavender. Tight clusters of deep purple flowers sit on 10-12” attractive green spikes adding color contrast to the garden, flowers don’t bleach out in the sun. This is a drought resistant variety and it withstands high summer temperatures. It is resistant to deer and rabbits and early summer into fall butterflies and bees are attracted to the fragrant blooms. Pick leaves to use fresh anytime, pick before flowering starts if dehydrating the leaves. Gather the flowers as they open and hang in small bunches to dry.
