Watercress can be grown in the home garden or in containers as long as it gets plenty of moisture. This leafy green with a peppery flavor thrives in cool spring weather. Plant in early spring and harvest before hot summer weather arrives keeping it moist at all times. It’s a great cut and come again plant that can be used in salads, sandwiches, pesto, soups or try it in a smoothy. Harvest leafy growth on stems that are 4-5 inches long. Leave some side shoots at the base to allow for new growth.
