Grow your own corn to pop into delicious, tasty, fluffy popcorn. Plant corn in rows or blocks of 4 or more to ensure good pollination. Avoid cross pollination with sweet corn by planting corn varieties 14 days apart.
For best results leave popcorn plant in the garden until the stalks are brown, husks are dry, and the kernels are hard. Twist and snap the ears from the stalk before the first frost, then strip away the dry husks from each ear. Cure the ears in a dry location with good air circulation for 4 weeks. Kernels are ready when they can be easily twisted or rubbed from the ear. Store in an airtight container until ready to use. Pop kernels using your favorite method.
